Above are some photos of the first Fire Engine and crew in Rathdrum
a 1941 Morris/Merryweather
These photos are of the first Fire Engine and crew in Rathdrum and what we
believe to be the first in Co Wicklow. It is a 1941 Morris/Merryweather NI 4022
and It was placed in Rathdrum in the 1940’s because of its central location in the
County. It was later sent to Arklow and then finally moved to Dunlavin where it
was destroyed in 1966 by fire while being refuelled. If anyone has any further
information ie, crew names please contact us. All info would be appriciated.
Some of the names we have got so far are: J Kelly, J Sheehan, Major Ellison, G
Byrne, T Barry, J Kelly, B Newman, T Timmons, C Keogh, J Grimson, John &
Jimmy Houlihan, John Davis.
