Recruit Training
New recruits joining the service will have to undergo
Tests to see if they are capable of working at heights
and working in dark confined spaces.
After completing these tests successfully they will
then do a 2 week Recruit course followed by a 2
week Breathing Apparatus course. Both these must
completed and passed before a Recruit can start
as a probationary Fire Fighter.
However training does not stop there. A Fire Fighter
will have to do a lot more training after His/Her
initial training.
Just a few Examples
Emergency First Responder
Road Traffic Accident Training
Pump Operator
Compartment Fire Training
Compressed Air Foam Systems
Breathing Apparatus Refreshers
Hazardous Materials
Also 2 hours Training every week for 50 weeks of
the year at Station level.
